Ira Khan's boyfriend Nupur Shikhare went down on one knee to propose to her
Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira is engaged. The 25-year-old dropped a romantic proposal video on her Instagram account to announce her engagement to long-time boyfriend Nupur Shikhare. The video was shared from Ironman Italy where he is participating in a cycling event.
Shikhare opted for a rather filmy proposal. He went down on his knee with a ring in his hand and asked Khan to marry him to which she enthusiastically replied yes. The couple sealed the deal with a kiss.
Khan shared the video with the caption, “Popeye: she said yes (smile and hearts emoji) Ira: Hehe (smile emoji) I said yes.”
Shikhare also shared a couple of photos in his Instagram Story. He captioned one “she said yes,” and with another photo, he wrote, “Ironman had a special spot jahan hamara roka hua, got it? (Ironman had a special spot where we got engaged, get it?”) He was referring to a board that was right between the couple when they got engaged.
As soon as the cute proposal video was shared, comments and likes started to pour. Many friends and well-wishers of the couple gushed over the adorable gesture and gave their blessings to the jodi.
Tiger Shroff’s sister Krishna Shroff wrote, “This is the CUTEST thing EVER! Congratulations, baby girl!” Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh, who has worked with Ira’s dad Aamir in ‘Dangal’, commented, “This is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. Uff. @nupur_shikhare so filmy uff,” Huma Qureshi added, “OMG!! Congratulations to you both.”
Khan had been dating Shikhare for quite a few years. The couple made their relationship public in 2020. The duo have never shied away from PDA on social media and have shared a few lovey-dovey couple pics and OTT (over-the-top) romantic gestures on social timelines.
Earlier, Khan had revealed how her boyfriend had been a stabilising force when she was going through a rough patch. She said that he had provided unconditional support when she was dealing with anxiety and depression. In a heartfelt Instagram post (shared on April 30, 2022) she wrote, “But while it’s building (anxiety), talking to Popeye (Shikhare), and breathing helped make it not come to an attack. At least for a few hours. It also depends on if I get re-stressed by another stimulus later. Life’s full of variables. If you are trying to be mindful, remember to take them all into account.”
Khan, who was diagnosed with clinical depression, launched a non-governmental-organisation Agatsu Foundation in 2021 to provide emotional support to people dealing with anxiety and depression.
