All that talk about shattering the glass ceiling must make banker Kalpana Morparia think “been there done that”.

She is recognised as a leading figure in India’s banking and finance space after all. Naturally, Morparia, CEO, South & South East Asia, JP Morgan knows what it takes to be successful.

At the recent CEO Roundtable, hosted by The Economic Times in Mumbai, she told ETPanache that in part her success can be attributed to her go-getter attitude.

“Win. Win. Win. I have a huge passion to win. I feel we tend to make excuses because we haven’t set our mind to win. Whatever it is that you do in life, you need to be in the top three,” she said.

And her most winning quality? “I am a people person. So whenever I engage, whether it’s a client or my own team, for me it’s not just about the work or task at hand. It is about knowing the person and what drives him,” Morparia said.

Note down those pointers.
