Jehan Daruvala (L), who was racing for Prema Racing, also rubbed shoulders with Mick Schumacher (R).
The Indian racing star shares his equation with the German F2 champion, the advise he got from Karun Chandok and what he thinks about the 2022 F1 calendar.
Indian racer Jehan Daruvala is currently recovering from a knee surgery. A few weeks ago, the F3 second runner up spoke to ET Panache when he was at home in Mumbai for a break.
Daruvala, who was racing for Prema Racing, also rubbed shoulders with Mick Schumacher. The F2 champion is the son of seven-time Formula One champion, Michael Schumacher. "I know Mick personally. We are not close friends, but we are friends. He was in F2 with Prema this year so we met quite a few times at the factory. He is a good guy," the Mumbai lad said.
There is always advice from former Indian racers and Daruvala has got plenty. "I met Karun (Chandok) earlier this year at Silverstone. Not too many tips based on driving but just tips like stay focused, keep doing well and not to look too far ahead, to just focus on my job," he said on meeting the former Indian F1 driver.
The 20-year-old Indian is looking to be in F2 in the 2020 season. Sharing his views about the 2022 season in F1 which will see a record 22 races, Daruvala said, "I think it will be very physically demanding. It is not just in the cars but also travelling mentally and physically both they have to take it up a step. It is not easy and with more races, it is just going to get harder. They will have to do a lot of driving and will have to spend a lot of time getting fit for these races," he said.
