On a Formula One track, what’s the fastest way through a corner?

Formula One is back this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.

Before the championship race heats up again, the 2019 grid took some time out to decode popular F1 terms and give us a peek at trade secrets, like how does DRS actually work, what’s an undercut and what’s the fastest way through a corner?

In a video posted by Formula One, Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc break down the steps that go into driving the tightest corner. These include rotating the car without scrubbing too much speed, using as much track as possible, hitting the right trajectory in the entry and exit of the corner, steering as little as possible and trying to reach and hit the apex every time at the middle point.



“There’s literally thousands of things that go on through the experience,” said Hamilton.

The 2019 grid also decoded some commonly used F1 terms for those new to following the sport such as undercut, slipstream, understeer/oversteer, harvesting in F1 etc. with a special mention of the controversial DRS or drag reduction system.
