Jailer 2 box office collection day 3: Rajinikanth’s film crosses Rs 300 crore mark worldwide, beats Dhurandhar 2’s overseas record

Jailer 2 is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. Since its release on October 15, Rajinikanth’s film has continued to draw audiences and cross major box office milestones. The action comedy has now entered the Rs 300 crore club worldwide within three days. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel also stars Vidya Balan, S.J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Hrithik Roshan are among the actors making special appearances.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, Jailer 2 collected Rs 47.80 crore net in India on its third day, across 14,604 shows. The Tamil version contributed the largest share, earning Rs 34.60 crore from 7,802 shows. The Telugu version collected Rs 8.50 crore across 2,100 shows, while the Hindi version earned Rs 4.25 crore from 4,554 shows. The Kannada version added Rs 45 lakh from 148 shows.

With these earnings, the film’s total India net collection has reached Rs 144.60 crore. Its domestic gross collection stands at Rs 169.65 crore.




The film has also performed well in international markets. It earned an estimated Rs 47.50 crore overseas on Day 3, taking its total overseas gross collection to Rs 147.50 crore. Its worldwide gross collection now stands at Rs 317.15 crore, according to the reported figures.

Jailer 2 beats Dhurandhar 2 in overseas opening

Before its strong third-day performance, Jailer 2 had already made a major impact in overseas markets. The Rajinikanth-starrer reportedly earned Rs 57 crore overseas on its opening day. It had also generated around Rs 30 crore in advance bookings across international markets before its theatrical release.

The film’s reported overseas opening-day earnings surpassed those of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, Ram Charan’s Peddi, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3.

However, these figures refer to reported overseas opening-day collections and should not be confused with the films' total worldwide earnings over their theatrical runs.

The sequel brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the character who became popular with audiences in the 2023 film Jailer. The franchise combines action, comedy and crime, with special appearances adding to the cast.

How Jailer 2 compares with the original film

The original Jailer, released in 2023, went on to collect around Rs 600 crore worldwide during its theatrical run. According to the reported figures, it earned Rs 25.75 crore net in India on its second day and had collected Rs 142.53 crore worldwide at the corresponding point.

In comparison, Jailer 2 reportedly collected Rs 35.60 crore net in India on Day 2 and crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide early in its run. Its latest worldwide total of Rs 317.15 crore puts it on course for another strong theatrical performance, although its final earnings will depend on how it holds up in the coming days.

Despite the film’s box office success, its Hindi theatrical release has reportedly encountered difficulties. Multiplex chains have resisted screening the Hindi version amid a disagreement over the film’s proposed streaming window.

Reports suggest that Sun Pictures is seeking an OTT release window of less than four weeks after the theatrical debut. Exhibitors, meanwhile, have generally pushed for an eight-week gap between a film’s cinema release and its streaming premiere.

The disagreement has affected the Hindi version’s theatrical distribution. Whether the issue is resolved could determine how widely the film reaches Hindi-speaking audiences in cinemas. Stay tuned!
