Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have reunited on screen in Ranabaali, which arrived in theatres on October 16. The period action drama marks the couple's first film release together since their wedding in February 2026. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film is set against the backdrop of British colonial rule and draws on events surrounding the Madras Famine of 1876–78. According to early estimates, Ranabaali opened to a worldwide gross of Rs 16.50 crore.

Ranabaali box office collection Day 1

According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 9.25 crore net in India on its opening day, with screenings across 2,515 shows. Its India gross collection stood at Rs 10.75 crore, while overseas markets contributed Rs 5.75 crore to the worldwide total.

Ranabaali recorded an India net collection of Rs 9.25 crore on Friday, October 16, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. Including taxes, its domestic gross earnings reached Rs 10.75 crore. The film added another Rs 5.75 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 16.50 crore.

The film's opening-day performance comes with added interest as it brings Deverakonda and Mandanna together in a theatrical release following their marriage earlier this year. The actors have previously worked together in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, making Ranabaali their third collaboration.

However, the film's opening collection is lower than that of some of Deverakonda's earlier releases. The numbers show that his 2025 film Kingdom had minted Rs 15 crore on the first day while Liger, which released in 2019, had opened at around Rs 15.95 crore. Ranabaali did better business than The Family Star which minted Rs 5.75 crore on its opening day.

What is Ranabaali about?

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is a period action drama set during the era of British rule in India. Its historical backdrop spans 1854 to 1878, with the narrative drawing on the Madras Famine of 1876–78. The director has described the film as a fictionalised retelling of events from that period.

Deverakonda plays the titular character, Ranabaali, a Telugu man from the Rayalaseema region who rises against British rule. The story revolves around resistance and features action sequences set against the political and social conditions of the time.

Rashmika Mandanna potrays the role of Jayamma, Ranabaali's wife and a partner in his struggle. The film also features Arnold Vosloo as Sir Theodore Hector, an English officer who stands against the protagonist.
