While the wedding reports continue to attract attention, an old video gives a different glimpse into Anirudh’s life away from the film industry. One of the most surprising details from Anirudh’s home tour was his bedroom. Unlike many celebrity homes featuring elaborate interiors and expensive furniture, his room had a mattress placed directly on the floor instead of a conventional bed.During the video, Anirudh explained that sleeping on the floor was simply a personal preference. He also said he did not need much storage space because he did not have too many clothes. The composer did not give a specific reason for choosing this arrangement, presenting it as a habit he was comfortable with.
He said, "I don't know why. But i read somewhere that single guys love to sleep on floor."
The tour also revealed that Anirudh continued to live with his parents rather than moving into a separate home of his own. He said returning to his family every day helped him stay connected to his roots despite his growing success in the music industry.
Anirudh also explained that home was a place where he could take a break from his professional life. Since composing music requires him to remain creative, he prefers not to discuss work when he returns. He appreciated that his parents understood this and allowed him to enjoy his time at home without constantly being treated as a celebrity or a film-industry professional.
Home theatre, memory wall and a space for family
Anirudh’s Chennai home features several personal touches, including a memory wall displaying photographs from different stages of his life. During the tour, he pointed out childhood pictures, including photographs with his father, Ravi Raghavendra. He described the wall as one of his favourite parts of the house because of the memories and emotions associated with it.The living room is another important space in the house. Anirudh showed where the family gathers for conversations and joked that his father often uses the opportunity to ask him about his life and plans. The composer also pointed out a particular seat that made him feel like the boss of the house, even though he admitted that the feeling did not reflect reality.
The house has a traditional atmosphere, with framed photographs displayed on the walls instead of simply laminated pictures. Anirudh said his family makes an effort to retain a sense of Chennai and tradition at home, regardless of how much they travel.
The family also expanded the house as they needed more space over the years. Anirudh explained that one of the main reasons for the extension was to create a home theatre. The additional area gave the family more room while providing a dedicated place to watch films.
Another part of the residence serves as a small library and office. Anirudh jokingly described it as a place that could be visited by appointment. He said he uses the room to listen to stories and scripts, offering a quiet space for creative discussions.
Anirudh’s memories of Rajinikanth and his journey
The home tour also included a photograph of Anirudh with Rajinikanth, whom he affectionately called “Thalaivar”. Speaking about the superstar, the composer praised his humility and said his family had admired his nature since Anirudh was a child.Anirudh also showed a horse sculpture gifted to him by a film producer after one of his songs became popular. Although he found it embarrassing to display the gift prominently, he said the family kept it as a reminder of the occasion.
Anirudh said the residence had gradually evolved as his family’s needs changed. Despite his achievements, he felt the house continued to keep him grounded and connected to the person he had been before entering the film industry.
For the composer, the Chennai residence is simple and more than a place to return to after work. Stay tuned for more details about his wedding.
