For the uninitiated, Kent RO Systems had come up with an advertisement which had hit a wrong note with the netizens. The ad for Kent’s bread and atta maker, which appeared as an Instagram carousel, had phrases like, “are you allowing your maid to knead atta dough by hand?” and “her hands may be infected”, written on it.

The phrase ‘her hands may be infected’ triggered a massive outrage on Twitter as netizens took to social media to accuse the ad of being ‘classist’ and ‘misogynistic’. Eventually, the CMD of Kent RO Systems, Mahesh Gupta issued an official apology on Wednesday for ‘hurting sentiments’.

'Our recent advertisement of Kent Atta & Bread Maker on social media was unintentional, badly communicated and was wrong. We are extremely sorry for this incident and want to apologise to everyone, especially the people whose sentiments were hurt', read the apology.

The statement also went on to elaborate on how the advertisement was contrary to the beliefs and professional standards of Kent and that they will investigate how the 'advertising standards were compromised.'

“This a great move by the government understanding the need of the hour. We have been receiving queries to keep our outlets open and delivering pizza's as people love to binge late hours of the night. This will also help us in our businesses by boosting our sales without any additions from the company's back end. The decision to stay open 24*7 helps restaurants improve the existing investment in the business too. Hence, it’s a win-win for customers and us both.”
