The ‘Baahubali’ franchise catapulted Prabhas to national and international fame.
In 2022, films from the southern industry are ruling the roost at the box-office in India and overseas. Many South Indian films went on to create records with phenomenal revenues and attracted new legions of fans. ‘RRR’, ‘Ponniyin Selvan -1’, ‘Vikram’, ‘Kantara’, etc., with their astounding success, intriguing stories and technical brilliance became national phenomena.
However, Telugu cinema capturing the imagination of the entire country is not a new phenomenon. Back in 2015, ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ helmed by SS Rajamouli created ripples across India and abroad. Rajamouli recreated the same magic in 2017 after he released ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ which went on to earn over Rs 1,800 crore at the box-office.
Much before Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, and Jr NTR came to the pan-India scene, the ‘Baahubali’ series propelled Prabhas to national and global stardom. Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, popularly known as Prabhas, began his film career in 2002 with film-maker Jayanth C Paranjee’s Telugu drama ‘Eeswar’. In over two decades, Prabhas has worked in some of the most successful films in Telugu.
After numerous awards and films that went on to rake in astronomical figures, Prabhas is perceived as one of the most bankable stars in the Telugu film industry. The actor has some of the most intriguing projects lined-up for 2023.
Prabhas is celebrating his 43rd birthday today. On his special day, here is a look at some of his upcoming projects. ‘Aadipurush’ Prabhas will be seen in the lead role in film-maker Om Raut’s upcoming mythological film. The film which is made on a whopping budget of Rs 500 crore is being shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. The film also stars Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, Vatsal Sheth, and Sonal Chauhan. The makers of the film released the first teaser on October 2. While the teaser was vigorously trolled, the makers have asserted that the film has been made to be viewed extensively in the 3D format. Regardless of the mixed reactions, Prabhas fans are anticipating some high action and visual extravaganza from ‘Aadipurush’.

‘Salaar’ The superstar will be collaborating with Prashanth Neel, who is known for helming the wildly successful ‘KGF’ series, for the first time with ‘Salaar’. The film is made on a whopping Rs 200 crore budget and is dubbed as an action thriller film. Prabhas will be seen opposite Shruti Haasan. The film will also feature Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. The film is expected to hit the theaters in September 2023.
‘Project K’ The film helmed by acclaimed director Nag Ashwin is expected to be one of the most expensive Indian sci-fi films. Prabhas will be seen along with Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. The film is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and will have music by Mickey J Meyer. ‘Project K’ is expected to feature some high-octane action sequences. The film is expected to be released in October 2023.
