Google’s Independence Day doodle inspired by truck art
Google marked India's 72nd Independence Day with a doodle inspired by truck art. The doodle shows a peacock-couple, India’s national bird, at the centre, flanked on each side by a Bengal tiger and an elephant.

It also features the country's national flower, a lotus with the sun rising in a colour-filled backdrop

Google said that the doodle, "featuring images of some of India’s iconic colorful plantlife and mighty animals, was inspired by Indian truck art, a long-standing tradition where truckers who live on the road surround themselves with cheerful folk art to occupy their minds during long months away from their families".

Clicking on the doodle shows entries on Independence Day, including videos, news etc.

Google doodles in the past included the Red Fort, the Tricolour, Dandi March among others.
