Three years after it first caught attention at a major film festival, Gandhi Talks has finally found its audience beyond theatres. Directed by Kishor Panduranga Belekar, the silent social drama had its premiere at the International Film Festival of India in Goa before releasing in cinemas on January 30, 2026. The film created curiosity for attempting something rare in modern Indian cinema, telling a powerful story without spoken dialogue. Backed by a strong cast and a celebrated music composer, the film opened to mixed reviews, and now it has made its way to OTT.

Streaming details of Gandhi Talks

Gandhi Talks became available for digital rental on the Prime Video Store starting February 27, 2026. During this early access phase, viewers can watch the movie by paying a one-time rental fee. The film is expected to be included in the regular streaming catalogue of Amazon Prime Video around two weeks later, making it accessible to subscribers without additional charges.

The film features Vijay Sethupathi, Aravind Swami and Aditi Rao Hydari in key roles. At its core, Gandhi Talks is a social drama that explores how money influences human behaviour. The story follows a wealthy businessman whose life begins to fall apart due to corruption and personal setbacks. As his world collapses, two other men, one unemployed and unable to secure a job because he cannot afford to pay a bribe, and another a small-time pickpocket, plan to break into his house to steal cash. What unfolds when their paths cross forms the emotional centre of the film.

Director Belekar presents the narrative without dialogue, relying entirely on expressions, visuals and background music to convey emotions. The film highlights how currency notes bearing Mahatma Gandhi’s image can symbolise both hope and corruption. It questions how far individuals are willing to go when faced with desperation, greed or survival. By removing spoken words, the filmmaker places greater emphasis on body language and silence.

More about Gandhi Talks

The music, composed by A. R. Rahman, plays a defining role in shaping the storytelling. Since there are no conversations, Rahman’s background score carries the emotional weight of the film, guiding viewers through tension, sorrow and irony. The cinematography is handled by Karan B. Rawat, while editing is done by Ashish Mhatre, helping maintain the pace across its 2-hour-and-13-minute runtime. The film has received a U/A certificate.

While opinions on the film have been divided, Gandhi Talks stands out for its bold attempt at reviving silent storytelling in a contemporary setting. Stay tuned for more updates!
