Don't worry, follow these simple 'oil' tips to ensure that your skin is Holi-proof

Don't let the fear of harming your skin stop you from having fun.

The festival of Holi is all about fun, food, and colours. And while the festival of colours brings us a chance to celebrat e with our loved ones, the colours often also cause damage our skin.

So it is important to prep your skin against any kind of damage.


Dr Sangeeta Velaskar, Vice President and Head, Medical Services and R& D at Kaya Clinics shares some simple tips to incorporate into your skincare and haircare regimen before you begin the celebrations:

- Before you head out to play with colours, generously apply sunscreen lotion of your body. Preferably opt for one with more than 30 SPF, and make sure that your sunscreen is water-resistant. Try to get your hands on a sunscreen that is gel based, this will protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

- A night before Holi, take a head massage with an organic oil. This will provide your hair with ample nutrition, thus making sure it doesn't gets dry due to the chemicals present in the colours.

If you suffer from hairfall, use an oil that is infused with macadamia, avocado or opt for 100% natural olive oil.

To further minimise the damage, braid your hair or roll it into a bun after applying oil. You can also use a bandana to cover your hair.
