Gut problems like bloating, poor digestion, acidity, and feeling heavy after meals are often dismissed as minor discomforts, but they can significantly affect overall health and daily well-being. An unhealthy gut can influence energy levels, metabolism, immunity, mental clarity, and even mood, making digestive balance essential for long-term wellness. A well-balanced diet, coupled with adopting positive lifestyle habits, can help you deal with stomach-related problems. But do you know that a simple beverage, made with common kitchen ingredients, can also offer relief from digestive issues?

Recently, celebrity nutritionist Luke Coutinho dropped a video on Instagram sharing the detailed recipe of the drink.

Simple spice-based drink

According to Coutinho, this easy homemade tea can be especially beneficial after heavy meals, during episodes of bloating, or whenever the digestive system needs extra support. Prepared using common kitchen staples like coriander, cumin, fennel, and a small amount of ajwain, the drink is designed to naturally support gut health through the healing properties of traditional spices.

Each ingredient plays a specific role in improving digestion. Coriander is known for its cooling properties, cumin helps stimulate digestion, fennel may reduce bloating, while ajwain acts as a natural carminative that can help release trapped gas and ease stomach discomfort. Together, these ingredients create a soothing beverage that supports better digestion and overall gut balance.

How to prepare CCF tea

For this gut-friendly recipe, Coutinho recommended using 2 tablespoons of cumin seeds (jeera), 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds, 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds (saunf), 1 teaspoon of ajwain (carom seeds), and 1 litre of water.

The tea can be prepared in two simple ways. For an overnight infusion, all the seeds can be added to water in a glass or steel bottle and left to soak overnight before straining and sipping gradually throughout the day. Alternatively, the ingredients can be boiled together until the water reduces to approximately 500 ml, creating a stronger decoction that can be strained and consumed warm after meals.

For added health benefits and flavour, optional additions such as lemon juice, ginger, or turmeric may also be included. Coutinho emphasised that this simple, natural remedy offers powerful digestive support using everyday ingredients commonly found in most kitchens.
