Charge iPhones faster with new firmware update for MagSafe Battery Pack
The Pack can be updated via an iPhone, Lightning USB cable, etc.

According to a report on 9to5Mac, users can now charge iPhones at a faster 7.5W than the regular 5W by upgrading to the firmware update 2.7 of the MagSafe Battery Pack. The update can be availed via a lightning USB cable from the Pack to a connected Mac or iPad.
Also, if an iPhone is being updated along with a Pack attached, then the Pack will get updated automatically. However, this may take up to a week to fully update the Pack. According to Apple, connecting the MagSafe Battery Pack to an iPad or Mac will update it in about 5 minutes.
Earlier when the MagSafe pack was plugged into a 20W charger it could transfer up to a 15W charge to an iPhone. However, with the new update, users will be able to get faster charging up to 7.5W even when off the grid.
Users can also verify their MagSafe Battery Pack is updated by following these simple steps.
- Attach the Pack to your iPhone and head into Settings
- Select General then head to About
