iPhone 16 may sport full-screen display with an under-display camera and Face ID, to be launched in 2024

The bigger the screen, the better the smartphone experience. To enhance the viewing experience of customers, many smartphone brands have already ditched or realigned the camera notch on their devices. Apple the gold standard of smartphones has not been able to do away with its notch yet.

However, things may change. Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is known for his accurate predictions on Apple devices has indicated that Apple may introduce a full-screen device in 2024. According to Kuo, the tech giant will adopt an under-display front camera and Face-ID. The timing suggests that the changes would most likely be introduced on the iPhone 16 Pro.

The analyst wrote on his Twitter account that the full-screen iPhones will arrive in 2024. The feature will be seen on Apple’s most high-end iPhones. He also went on to say that low-light conditions would be vital to the quality of the front camera along with enhancements in ISP and algorithms.

Kuo has been claiming that iPhone 16 will feature a device that will have an under-display Face ID. His statement which is linked to another tweet also asserts that the iPhones with under-display fingerprint readers are unlikely to be introduced in the next two years.

Earlier this week, Kuo claimed that the iPhone 14 models may feature upgraded front cameras that will have autofocus and a wider f/1.9 aperture. “The front camera of four new iPhone 14 models in 2H22 would likely upgrade to AF (autofocus) & about f/1.9 aperture (vs. iPhone 13's FF (fixed-focus) and f/2.2),” read the Tweet by Kuo.
In a subsequent tweet, Kuo enumerated how the enhanced camera will aid in superior video calls. With a wider aperture, the front cameras of the iPhone 14 models will get more light through its lens. According to Kuo, the camera upgrades will let users click portrait photos and videos with an enhanced depth-of-field effect.
