Announced in 2014, the film's budget spilled across, and touched close to over Rs 400 crore. Director Mukerji, finally a much relieved man, took to Instagram to share his thoughts at the early success of his magnum opus and thanked his audience.
The Hindi version of the film - that also stars Amitabh Bachchan and southern actor Nagarjuna in pivotal roles- has broken previous records by being the 'biggest non-holiday opener of all time' in India and abroad, as per trade analysts.
The film that was in the making for eight years has been dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
