Ice creams are an emotion. And gelatos are simply a chef’s kiss. From velvety chocolate and rich vanilla to refreshing strawberry and nutty butterscotch pistachio, these frozen desserts come in diverse flavours. While gelatos are known for their denser and smoother texture, these delicious desserts come packed with added sugar, fat and calories, especially when topped with chocolate chips, syrups and caramel. But this festive season, if you wish to enjoy gelatos, then celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala, who has worked with Bollywood celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, has a wonderful solution for you.

Yasmin Karachiwala recently shared a video on Instagram where she shared the recipe for lip-smacking chocolate gelato, which she claims to be a healthier alternative to traditional sweet treats. Her side note read, ‘You all know how much I love my chocolate! So this time I decided to turn it into gelato, with a little healthier twist. And trust me, it turned out SO good.’

Chocolate gelato recipe: Ingredients required

  • 2 cups Greek yoghurt
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 60 g melted dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt

Chocolate gelato recipe: How to make

Here’s the step-by-step process to make the chocolate gelato:

First, you have to melt the dark chocolate and let it cool down slightly. After that, blend the Greek yoghurt with a sprinkle of cacao powder and a drizzle of honey and vanilla extract. Then, add a pinch of sea salt and the melted dark chocolate. Wait until the concoction becomes completely thick and smooth.

In the following step, you have to pour the blend into a freezer-safe container. Let it freeze for about 4 hours, but make sure to keep stirring every hour to keep the creamy texture intact. Let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes and then dig in for the scoops.
