Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Runway 34' crawls to Rs 31.62 cr on Day 13 box-office performance

Ajay Devgn's third directorial 'Runway 34' has had a lukewarm response since its theatrical release on April 29 alongside Tiger Shroff's 'Heropanti 2'.

According to reports, the film has minted a total of Rs 31.62 crore on Day 13, and its box-office performance has been declining. On Day 13, it earned Rs 65 lakh and Rs 70 lakh on Day 12.

The 'Runway 34' release strategically planned before the Eid holiday (May 3) also didn't help the movie to perform.


Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that the Devgn-starrer witnessed some growth on word of mouth and the movie's strong plot, but overall failed to perform.


During the opening weekend, it earned Rs 13.19 crore - Rs 3 crore on Day 1 (Friday), Rs 4.50 crore on Day 2 (Saturday) and Rs 5.50 crore on Day 3 (Sunday).

On its first Sunday, Entertainment industry tracker Ramesh Bala hoped that the movie would make around Rs 7.25 crore. However, the film only made Rs 5.50 crore.


Bala shared box-office collection numbers from the United Arab Emirates. Ranking at the third spot, the total gross of 'Runway 34' till May 8 was nearly $508,680.

While Yash-starrer 'KGF: Chapter 2' was lead the performance with over $3.22 million, Malayalam film 'Jana Gana Mana' - featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran - minted $985,611. The other on the list were 'Heropanti 2' ($232,819), 'Jersey' ($126,592), 'Acharya' ($90,300) and 'Makal' ($31,235).


Produced and directed by Ajay Devgn, the actor joined hands with Aditya Chopra-led Yash Raj Films to release the movie in the international market.

Billed as an edge-of-the-seat drama, Devgn plays the lead role of Captain Vikrant Khanna in the movie.

Written by Sandeep Kewlani and Aamil Keeyan Khan, 'Runway 34' is inspired by a true incident of the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight that had a narrow escape in August 2015, after facing difficulties landing at the Cochin International Airport due to bad weather and unclear visibility.

Releasing under the banner Ajay Devgn FFilms, 'Runway 34' also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh and Angira Dhar.
