'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' had collected over Rs 10 cr in pre-sale booking in India even before the film hit the theaters.
Internationally too, the film has managed to cause quite a frenzy, snagging $185 million on the day of its box office debut. It also had the biggest opening weekend of the year, the second-biggest of the pandemic era and the film became 11th biggest all-time opener, according to an AFP report.
The film, directed by Sam Raimi, sees Cumberbatch reprising the titular character of Doctor Strange and follows him as he tries to contain the aftermath of the multiverse-fracturing spell he cast in the 2021 hit film 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' -- which caused villains from across the multiverse to spill over into the central Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.
