'Drishyam 2' will reportedly release on November 18.
When it comes to creating a buzz for upcoming projects, no one does it more innovatively than Ajay Devgn. The star is all set to return to the world of lights-camera-and-action with ‘Drishyam 2’, the sequel to the 2015 blockbuster ‘Drishyam’. The ‘Singham’ actor teased his fans by sharing pictures of some old bills on his Instagram handle.
The bills included a receipt from ‘Ashok Restaurant’ featuring an order of four pav bhaji with two extra pavs, a CD of Swami Chinmayananda Ji’s Maha Satsang dated October 2 and 3, a ticket from Panjim to Pondolem (where the film’s protagonist Vijay Salgaonkar, played by Devgn, lived with his family) and tickets to a film. These bills played an important role in proving the alibi of the Salgaonkar family in the movie.
Sharing the picture of the bills, Devgn wrote, “Kuch purane bills haath lag gaye aaj (found some old bills today).” Fans were quick to pick out the hints from the post. Some began speculating that October 2 could be the date when the first look (and teaser) of the movie is released. “Drishyam 2 loading,” commented a fan. “Drishyam 2 ka teaser or trailer aane wala hai sir,” wrote another. “Yaad hai hume 2 October ko kya huya tha (we remember what happened on October 2). All-time favourite movie.”
In the 2015 film, Devgn’s character Vijay Salgaonkar hoodwinks the police after his daughter Anju accidentally kills the son of a cop (played by Tabu) while he he attempts to rape her. Salgaonkar narrates a fake backstory and uses some bills to back up his claim.
‘Drishyam’ was the remake of the hit 2013 Malayalam film with the same name. The original had Mohanlal in the lead while the Hindi version starred Devgn, Shriya Saran, Tabu and Ishita Dutta in key roles.
Tabu, Dutta and Saran reprise their roles along with Devgn in ‘Drishyam 2’. The sequel will also star Akshaye Khanna. This movie marks the second collaboration of Khanna and Devgn after 20 years. The first time they appeared together was in the 2002 thriller ‘Deewangee’’. The film will be released in theatres on November 18.
