After a slow start, Katrina Kaif's 'Phone Bhoot' manages to mint Rs 7.85 cr over the weekend
Producers think India vs Zimbabwe match might have been a reason behind the low footfalls.

Despite a slow start, ‘Phone-Bhoot’ has slowly gained momentum at the box office. Horror-comedy starring Ishaan Khatter, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Katrina Kaif, has earned Rs 7.85 crore at the box office.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box-office journey of the ‘bhayanak comedy’. He wrote, “#PhoneBhoot struggles… Biz did improve on Day 2 and 3, but the 3-day total is below the mark… Contribution from metros mainly, mass pockets remain dull… Weekdays crucial… Fri 2.05 cr, Sat 2.75 cr, Sun 3.05 cr. Total: ? 7.85 cr. #India biz.”

A BO report by Koimoi.com cited the numbers quoted by Adarsh and concluded that the box-office collections of the movie are indeed improving, but at a snail’s pace. Excel Entertainment ( which has produced ‘Phone Bhoot’ ) is attributing the much anticipated India versus Zimbabwe T20 World Cup match ( that took place on November 6) as one of the possible factors that led to the lower number of footfalls. “Having experienced a great start, the third-day collection of the film rose to Rs 3.05 crore despite being affected by the India-Zimbabwe T20 World Cup match. This is a sheer example of audience love for the film that they are showering despite all the other influencing factors," read their post.
‘Phone Bhoot’ is a quirky flick that combines meta jokes, horror, and situational comedy at the same time. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh (of ‘Mirzapur’ fame). The movie is about two goofy ghostbusters who team up with a bewitching ‘bhootni’ (female ghost) to take down an equally comical villain (played by a brilliant Jackie Shroff).
The supernatural-comedy was released along with the survival drama ‘Mili’ starring Janhvi Kapoor and ‘Double XL’ a social comedy, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi. The movie managed to get a positive WOM (word of the mouth) for its spoofy moments where it refers to several movies and pokes fun at various films like ‘Brahmastra’ and loveable characters.
