Here's how Katrina Kaif got back at Ranbir Kapoor for using her hit song 'Chikni Chameli' in 'Brahmastra'

Netizens think the 'Phone Bhoot' cast was trolling the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer in the movie.

Bollywood’s designated Barbie, Katrina Kaif is back in top form after a year of hiatus. She is back with a scary avatar this time around. The ‘Bang Bang’ actress was seen as a bewitching bhootni (female ghost) in the horror comedy ‘Phone Bhoot’, co-starring Ishaan Khattar and Siddhant Chaturvedi.

The movie has opened to mixed responses, but the audience has appreciated the movie for its humour. This is a movie that refuses to take itself seriously and takes you along for a mindless and just a bit spooky joyride.

The film has a sequence where the cast trolls the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva’. Although the Ayan Mukerji directorial went on to be the highest Hindi language grosser in 2022, the film was trolled for having glaring plot holes. Netizens pointed out that Guruji’s (the role essayed by Amitabh Bachchan) secret hideout was shown as listed on Google Maps in the film. People also trolled Kapoor’s character Shiva for describing Bhatt’s character Isha as his ‘’Agny Astra button’’.

A Twitter user pointed out the ‘Phone Bhoot’ cast's light hearted ribbing of the film's plot holes. He wrote, “Not the cast of #PhoneBhoot going to a secret hideout of the antagonist and saying: 'AATMARAM KI JAGAH KO KAISE DHOONDE, YEH TOH GOOGLE MAPS PE BHI NAHI HAI' or capturing his weapon and saying: 'ASTRA HAI TOH BUTTON TOH HOGA'”.

Some of the more catty netizens think that this movie might have been a comeback of sorts from Kaif whose song ‘Chikni Chameli’ was used as BGM (background music) for a humorous scene in the Kapoor-Bhatt starrer. “ “He did that too with chikni chameli in Brahmastra,” wrote a Kaif fan.

Others think this is just Kaif “roasting” an ex-boyfriend indirectly. “This is called an indirect friendly roast of an ex-boyfriend. Giving a reference to his movie. Wow, Katrina,” commented another user. For those who are unaware, Kapoor and Kaif dated each other for six years (2010-2016).

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh (who also directed the much-loved web series ‘Mirzapur’ ) 'Phone Bhoot' is backed by Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani. The movie was released on November 4.

According to business analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie minted about Rs 2.05 crore on its first day of release.
