Jamnalal Bajaj Institute wraps up summer placements with an average stipend of Rs 91,000

KOLKATA: Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies has wrapped up its summer placements for the 2012-14 batch with an average stipend of Rs 91,000 and a top stipend of Rs 200,000.

Around 83 companies participated in the process which also saw a large number of new recruiters.

Of the 120-strong batch, around 33% were placed in the BFSI and IB sector, followed by 28% in FMCG and pharma, 18% in consulting and IT and 16% with conglomerates. The balance 5% went to other sectors.

The BFSI sector was represented by the likes of Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, J P Morgan Chase, ICICI Bank, Avista Advisory, J M Financial, ICICI Prudential AMC, and L&T Finance, among others. In addition to this, investment banking firms offered front end roles to the students.

FMCG majors such as HUL, P&G, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, GSK Consumer Healthcare and Dabur offered attractive roles in the sales and marketing domain. This year also saw a strong inclination towards the medical and pharma industry, represented by Medtronic, J&J Pharma, Abbott, Novartis, MSD Pharma and Sanofi.

Profiles across multiple domains were offered by business conglomerates like Mahindra
& Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Raymond, L&T and DCM Shriram as a part of the summer internship program.

Consulting roles were offered by KPMG, Jones Lang LaSalle, HCL, TCS, Capgemini and Michael Page International, among others. The real estate, chemical and manufacturing domain saw the participation of such companies as Cummins, AkzoNobel, Bajaj Auto, Godrej & Boyce, and Skoda.

Media and telecom offered interesting profiles as did companies like Ginger Hotels, Mattel Toys, Dassault Systemes, ShopClues and Omnitech.
