Biryani continues its reign as India’s most cherished dish, with 83 million orders placed this year on food-delivery company Swiggy—an average of 158 per minute—marking its ninth consecutive year at the top.

As per a report by Swiggy, Dosa stood out with 23 million orders, cementing its place as a culinary favourite.

In 2024, a single consumer in Bengaluru spent Rs 49,900 on pasta, indulging in nearly 55 Alfredo dishes, 40 Mac & Cheese plates, and 30 servings of Spaghetti, the report revealed.


Dinner proved to be the "Bahubali" of mealtimes in 2024, with 215 million orders—nearly 29% higher than lunch orders on Swiggy.

In 2024, Bengaluru remained loyal to its culinary heritage, with 2.5 million Masala Dosas consumed. Meanwhile, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Kolkata continued to favour their iconic dishes: Chole, Aloo Parantha, and Kachoris, respectively, as per the report.

Chicken Roll emerged as the nation’s most-ordered snack in 2024, with an impressive 2.48 million orders. Following closely were the popular Chicken Momos, with 1.63 million orders, while Potato Fries also made their mark with 1.3 million orders, proving they’re more than just a side dish in this competitive landscape.

Chicken Burger emerged as the ultimate midnight indulgence, with a remarkable 1.84 million orders placed between 12–2 AM. Close behind, Chicken Biryani maintained its status as a 24/7 favorite, continuing to be a perennial obsession.
