The overall attrition in the sector over the year has reached overall 57% pan India. Nearly half (49%) of all these employees have left within the first six months of joining. This is categorised as infant attrition. The level of infant attrition is at the highest in south India at 51% and the lowest in east India at 38%.
In the metros, infant attrition is counter intuitively at the lowest, at 47% and it’s at its highest in tier 3 and tier 4 cities, at 54%.
Data analysis from TeamLease further indicates that the overall attrition for women and men stands at 75% and 55% respectively. The data trend also highlights that while millennials continue to stay longer in the company, Gen Z are switching between companies faster, with the average age difference being 2.3 years between active and attrited employees.
“Infant attrition has been a key challenge for many sectors over the past few years, especially in the consumer durables segment. While hiring intent stands optimistic across these sectors (86% of consumer companies projecting the intent to hire even in Q4), attrition is an impending concern. Across companies, an average of 7450 from 15000 employees tend to leave the company within the first six months of joining and the average tenure of young employees leaving the organisation is 1.3 years,” said Balasubramanian A, vice-president and business head, Teamlease Services.
From a salary perspective, south India projects the highest CTC trends between Rs. 21,000 and 25,000 per month.
From an overall attrition perspective, the recent Employment Outlook Report for Q4 from TeamLease indicates a 4.03% increase in the attrition rate in the fast moving consumer durables/goods sector, from 53% to 57%.
