LJP (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan
LJP (Ram Vilas) leader and Union minister Chirag Paswan has once again triggered controversy by questioning the law-and-order situation in Bihar. Addressing a public meeting in Gaya, Paswan made sharp allegations against the Nitish Kumar-led state government.

"I am ashamed to be supporting a government where criminals have a free run and the administration has completely failed," Paswan said.

His remarks drew an immediate counter from fellow NDA ally and Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.

"I am glad to support a government in Bihar that does not compromise with crime. It uncovers every criminal incident and ensures those responsible are put behind bars," the HAM leader posted on X.

The JD(U), which had so far ignored Paswan's comments on law and order, reacted strongly this time. "If he has a problem, what can we say? PM Modi and HM Amit Shah trust Nitish Kumar, and NCRB data shows crime has declined in Bihar. Excess of anything is bad and everyone should remember that," JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar told ET.

Paswan's unpredictable statements on the state government are increasingly causing discomfort within the NDA as polls draw closer.
