Info Edge Q1 profit rises 43% to Rs 490 crore as Naukri, 99acres gather pace
Info Edge reported a strong June quarter with a 43% net profit increase. Enterprise hiring and 99acres momentum significantly boosted core business performance. Recruitment services saw billings rise 17.5% and revenues climb 13%. 99acres narrow...

The profit was aided by an exceptional gain from transferring Info Edge's holding in Shopkirana to Udaan parent Trustroot, partly offset by an impairment. Beneath that one-off, the operating business also quickened: standalone billings rose 14.4%, while operating profit before tax climbed 33.4% as overall costs grew less than 1%.
Recruitment regains momentum
Recruitment, which includes Naukri and accounts for most of Info Edge's revenue, recorded a 17.5% rise in billings to Rs 553 crore. Revenues increased 13% to Rs 612 crore, while operating profit grew 25% to Rs 356 crore, expanding the margin to 58.3%.
The improvement was led by business customers. Billings from global capability centres rose 31%, while the technology services and business process management segment grew 15%. Candidate services billings increased 35% as Naukri widened its paid offerings for jobseekers.
“Q1FY27 was a stronger quarter relative to the trends we saw through FY26,” managing director and chief executive Hitesh Oberoi said. He pointed to improving enterprise hiring and early adoption of the company's artificial intelligence products such as AI-Rex, which crossed 400 paying customers, while Talent Pulse had more than 600.
99acres closes in on breakeven
At 99acres, billings increased 16.5% to Rs 110 crore and revenues rose 17% to Rs 130 crore. Its operating loss narrowed to Rs 2 crore from Rs 19 crore a year earlier as rising paid supply and property enquiries allowed the platform to spread costs over a faster-growing business.
The number of paid listings increased nearly 30% to 1.25 million, while enquiries across property categories grew more than 38%.
Matchmaking grows; Shiksha feels AI pressure
Combined billings at matchmaking platforms Jeevansathi and Aisle rose 20.3%. Jeevansathi had an operating profit of Rs 1 crore, while Aisle's loss narrowed to Rs 2 crore as its billings jumped 44%.
Shiksha moved in the opposite direction. Billings fell 22.8% to Rs 35 crore and revenue declined 12% to Rs 44 crore as AI-led changes to search reduced referral traffic from Google. Demand for overseas education also remained subdued, particularly for the US, with student interest shifting towards the UK, Australia, and Europe.
