Iran on Saturday warned it would no longer consider itself bound by its agreement with the United States aimed at ending the Middle East conflict if Washington continued to violate its commitments under the deal.

Speaking at the United Nations in New York, Iran's ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani accused the US of breaching the Islamabad Understanding by launching and continuing large-scale military attacks against Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Tehran said it remained committed to implementing the agreement only if Washington fully honoured its obligations.

The warning comes as tensions have flared again despite an April ceasefire, with both sides exchanging fire over the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump has declared the ceasefire over but said negotiations with Iran would continue in an effort to secure a permanent settlement to the conflict.

Trump warned on Truth Social that the United States had missiles "locked and loaded" against Iran if Tehran acted on alleged threats against him, while Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed to continue avenging the killing of his father, Ali Khamenei. The exchange came as U.S. officials pressed Iran to publicly guarantee safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy chokepoint, while Tehran insisted the waterway remained under its control.

Despite the deteriorating rhetoric, diplomatic efforts continued. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi travelled to Oman for talks, while Qatari mediators also engaged Iranian officials. U.S. officials said any future nuclear deal would require Iran to surrender its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and halt attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, conditions Tehran has repeatedly rejected.

Iran will not hold negotiations until the United States retracts its current positions, Fars News Agency reported, citing a source.

Iran's Supreme Leader will issue a message in the coming hours regarding the funeral of his slain predecessor, reported Reuters.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held separate talks with the leaders of Iran and Qatar in an effort to revive the stalled US-Iran negotiations.

The talks were held on Friday night as efforts picked up pace to mend the broken peace bridge between the warring sides after the recent escalation and attacks on the rival targets.

In his conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Sharif expressed “deep concern over the recent escalation in tensions in the region” and underscored the urgent need to “restore regional peace and stability,” according to a statement by the PM Office.

He urged parties to “exercise restraint and refrain from any action that could jeopardise the hard-earned peace gains achieved over the past few months”.

Sharif stressed the importance of upholding the commitments undertaken under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as an enduring framework for promoting mutual understanding, respect and shared prosperity in the region and beyond.

Iran's ​top negotiator ​Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said ​that Tehran was ready for "all-out defence" if Washington ‌betrayed ⁠last ⁠month's memorandum of ​understanding, and the war would never ​end with Iran's surrender.

Qalibaf, speaking during ​a ⁠meeting with ‌Ahmad Muzani, speaker ​of ​Indonesia's People's ⁠Consultative Assembly, said he had told ​the U.S. vice ​president during negotiations that Tehran did not trust Washington and that, ‌in his view, only those prepared ​for ​war ⁠could negotiate with the United States. The remarks were ​posted on Qalibaf's Telegram account.

Egyptian and Qatari foreign ministers on Friday called on the United States and Iran to resume negotiations, as US President Donald Trump said Washington had agreed to continue talks with Tehran but repeated that the ceasefire between the two countries was over.

During a phone call, Egypt's Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani "urged all parties to give priority to the language of diplomacy and dialogue and to return to the negotiating table", Egypt's foreign ministry said in a statement.

President Donald Trump on Friday ​said the ​United States had agreed to talks ​with Iran after Tehran asked to continue negotiations, while stressing that the June ceasefire ‌between the ⁠two ⁠nations was over.

An escalation of hostilities between the U.S. and Iran could upend the International Energy Agency's forecast of a significant oil market surplus next year, it said on Friday, as global supply jumped in ‌June when the Strait of ⁠Hormuz ⁠reopened but still lagged pre-war levels.

Iran ​fired ​10 ballistic missiles ​at Jordan's Azraq military base on ‌Thursday, ⁠Iran's ⁠Revolutionary Guards ​said in a statement ​carried by state media.
