From importer to supplier? India's changing trade equation with China as exports rise by 37%

For years, India has largely been seen as a major importer of Chinese goods. But new data suggests that equation is beginning to change. Engineering exports to China surged 74% year-on-year in June 2026, while electronics component exports to China reached ₹35,000 crore last year. As India expands domestic manufacturing and moves up the value chain, exports of higher-value products are gaining momentum.
