Radhika Apte's intimate clip leak left her too scared to leave home for 4 days. 'My watchman had seen it as well'

Actress Radhika Apte recently recalled how the leak of an intimate clip from one of her movie projects left her feeling so scared that she was not able to step outside her own home for four days. What made the experience even more difficult, she said, was discovering that the clip had reached people who were part of her everyday life, including her watchman.

The actress, who is currently seen in Lust Stories 3, spoke about the incident while discussing the challenges actors face while filming intimate scenes. In an interview with India Today, Apte explained that the consequences of leaked material can extend far beyond the internet and enter an actor’s personal space.

Recalling the incident, Apte said the fear came from not knowing how people who had seen the clip might react. “We were talking about being able to do intimate scenes, but once something I had done was leaked, I literally couldn’t step out of the house for four days,” she said.


The actress explained that the situation felt particularly complicated because people who had seen the clip could potentially even come to her home because they felt offended by it.

“The problem is that it can come home very quickly. Your doorbell can ring, and somebody can be outside your house because they felt offended,” Apte said.

She also recalled learning that people connected to those around her had watched the clip. Her stylist told her that the stylist’s driver repeatedly asked whether she was going to Apte’s house.

“My watchman had seen it as well,” the actress said, adding that these instances made the situation “very difficult to deal with.”

She asked her team to protect her

The leak also made Apte think about her immediate safety. At the time, she said, she was living alone in an apartment.

She eventually spoke directly to members of her team, including her driver and spot dada, and asked whether they had seen the leaked material. She wanted them to understand the situation and be prepared to protect her if necessary.

“I eventually called my driver and my spot dada and told them, ‘There is a clip that has been leaked. Have you seen it? Because if you have not, I’ll send it to you. Watch it. If you’re okay with it, then you have to protect me. Otherwise, do not work with me. Here’s your salary; you can go’,” she recalled.

Both agreed to remain by her side.

“And they both said, ‘We will look after you’,” Apte said. “I was really scared because I was living alone in an apartment at the time. So yes, it can get quite tricky.”

Fear also affected one of her career decisions

During the same conversation, Apte spoke about another instance when fear influenced a professional decision. She revealed that she had once wanted to take up a project but eventually rejected it because of the political environment at the time.

According to the actress, it was the first time she had allowed fear to dictate a career choice. Her concern was that taking the project could put her entire family at risk.

Apte said she felt “ashamed” of the decision, even though she ultimately chose her family’s safety. She also revealed that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had advised her against taking up the project.

Apte has continued her acting career while also navigating motherhood. She and her husband, British musician Benedict Taylor, welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in December 2024.

Soon after giving birth, she shared a picture of herself breastfeeding her one-week-old daughter during her first work meeting. She also attended the BAFTAs in February 2025 and spoke through her actions about managing work commitments alongside caring for her newborn, including pumping breast milk during the event.

She has since continued taking on projects, including Sister Midnight, and is now part of Lust Stories 3, her latest screen appearance.
