Some of us who love mountains dream of living there permanently. The thought of escaping the chaos of city life and residing in the tranquillity of the hill stations seems quite appealing. Internet trends and travel vloggers have further intensified this desire, with several youngsters now making the bold move to settle in the mountains. A remotely working couple, Divya and Saurav, followed the same path and shifted to Manali forever. Recently, Divya dropped a video on Instagram, highlighting 5 things she loves about leading a mountain lifestyle.

More time together

According to Divya, moving to Manali has given her and Saurav more opportunities to spend quality time together. Their lives are no longer dominated by constant rush, fixed schedules or the pressure to be somewhere at a particular time. The slower pace created more room for shared moments and everyday experiences. Divya considers this one of the biggest advantages of mountain living, as the couple can enjoy each other’s company without the constant distractions and pressures that often come with city life.

A healthier lifestyle

Divya has also noticed a natural improvement in her and Saurav's lifestyle since moving to the mountains. They spend more time outdoors, walk more frequently and have easier access to fresh local produce. The couple also grows some of their own vegetables, making fresh food a regular part of their dietary routine. Another major advantage is the air quality, with Divya noting that the AQI mostly remains below 20. Together, these habits have made their lifestyle healthier without requiring major effort.

Lower expenses

For the couple, mountain living has also changed the way they spend money. According to Divya, they do not have to spend much on commuting, which can become a significant expense in urban areas. Cooking at home is another regular habit that helps them manage their expenses. She also believes that living away from the constant stimulation of the city reduces the temptation to spend money simply for entertainment or instant gratification. As a result, their lifestyle has become simpler and financially mindful.

Free adventures

Divya believes mountain life offers access to experiences that can be difficult to find or expensive to recreate in cities. The couple can head out for picnics in open grasslands, take cold dips in natural ponds or hike towards waterfalls. Many of these activities are located close to their home and do not require them to spend money. For the couple, this easy access to nature has turned everyday leisure into an opportunity for exploration, allowing them to enjoy memorable experiences without expensive outings.

4 seasons, 4 different landscapes

The changing seasons are another part of mountain life that Divya especially enjoys. She explained that the landscape takes on a different appearance almost every month. Spring brings vibrant flowers, while summers remain pleasant, with temperatures generally staying below 25 degrees Celsius. During the monsoon season, the surroundings become lush and green, while autumn is marked by striking sunsets. Winter is her favourite season because of the snowfall. These constant changes, according to Divya, make the environment feel fresh and visually different throughout the year.
