WHO IS DAVID MORTON? CANADIAN CEO AND FAMILY ATTACKED INSIDE TORONTO MANSION
David Morton is a Canadian businessman who has been recognized as the CEO of Mac Group. The Mortons belong to the elite class since their residence is in the luxurious Bridle Path district in Toronto.
According to the Daily Mail, Morton had been in his Hyde Park Circle residence together with his wife, Doriana Zohil, along with his two grown-up daughters, Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton, when the attack took place. It happened around 3:45 AM on Thursday.
According to Haberler, three masked suspects reportedly entered the house through a rear entrance. The criminals were armed with handguns; however, one was also wielding a hammer. It is said that the criminals demanded money and valuables from the family.
The Toronto police reported that two of the victims had injuries that could alter their lives while the rest had injuries that were not life-threatening at all. Authorities did not identify which family members were more seriously injured.
WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE TORONTO HOME INVASION?
The three assailants fled the scene in a sport utility vehicle right after the shooting, according to Haberler. So far, the police have not verified if any item was stolen from the place.
The police have been reviewing the camera footage and requesting nearby residents to submit any footage they might have captured using their security cameras or dashboard cameras.
There is yet another development that has caught the attention of the investigators. About half an hour after the burglary, an individual with a gunshot wound allegedly arrived at Toronto's St. Joseph's Hospital.
Authorities are probing any possible involvement of this person in the attack, though no connection has been established yet. Investigators have not established whether the family was specifically targeted, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
This event happens at a time when there is increasing worry regarding home invasions taking place in Toronto. According to Haberler, Toronto had recorded 119 home invasions in 2026, reportedly representing a 35% increase over the corresponding period in 2025.
Meanwhile, police have stepped up the patrols on Bridle Path as the investigation continues. The identities of the suspects and their motive behind the act remain unknown.
