Dean Norris became a familiar face to millions of viewers through his role as Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad. But the actor is now making headlines for reasons far removed from the hit series. News of his divorce from wife Bridget Norris and financial trouble at their jointly owned restaurant has sparked a wave of reactions online. Fans have been making jokes about Hank Schrader’s famous love of minerals, turning the actor’s real-life troubles into a series of Breaking Bad references.

According to court documents cited by TMZ and Page Six, Bridget filed for divorce in February 2025, ending a marriage that lasted more than two decades. Meanwhile, the couple’s Swing Inn Cafe in Temecula, California, has entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Why Are Dean Norris and His Wife Getting Divorced

Bridget Norris filed for divorce in Riverside County, California, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The documents list January 15 2025 as the date of separation. The couple married on October 27 2001 and have five children together. Bridget has requested joint legal and physical custody of their children, along with spousal support. She has also asked the court to determine how property acquired during the marriage should be divided.

The divorce has not yet been finalized. The couple also has a property in Temecula that has been put up for sale, according to the supplied report.

What Happened to Dean Norris's Swing Inn Cafe

The restaurant business has also run into serious financial trouble. Dean and Bridget Norris took over the historic Swing Inn Cafe in 2022. The place has been open since 1927. The company asked for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2026. Its financial papers say the business has about $147,810 in assets but around $1.81 million in debts.

The paperwork also shows a drop in money coming in. The business lost $1 million in total sales between 2024 and 2025.

The debts are from the restaurant business. Should not be mixed up with debts that Norris personally owes. Chapter 11 allows a business to get help while trying to fix its money problems. The Swing Inn Cafe remains open.

Fans Bring Back Hank Schrader's Famous Mineral Jokes

The divorce and restaurant troubles have drawn attentio. Much of the online discussion has focused on Norris's Breaking Bad character. Hank Schrader was famously obsessed with collecting minerals, often correcting people who called them rocks. Fans quickly brought that detail into the conversation.

One Reddit user joked, “That's why he's in the Ben Shapiro movie I guess.” Another wrote, “He should have opened a Los Pollos Hermanos,” referring to the fictional chicken restaurant run by Gus Fring in the series.

One user mocked saying, "The Breaking Bad family isn’t catching a break in 2026." Another retorted, "Financial issues: she mispriced his minerals on ebay."

The mineral references kept coming. One fan commented, “They’re minerals, Marie,” echoing Hank's memorable line from the show. Another joked that Bridget might end up with half his mineral collection.

Others reacted with sympathy rather than humour. One commenter wrote, “Guy is a phenomenal actor, sucks to hear money issues.”

Some fans also connected the news to Norris's upcoming book, Do What You're Gonna Do: The Definitive Oral History of Breaking Bad. Written with Joe Layden, it is scheduled for release in November and features memories and interviews with people involved in the series, including creator Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

The actor's personal and business matters remain separate from his television legacy. But online, fans are finding it difficult not to bring Hank Schrader's mineral obsession into the conversation.
