Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs iPhone Duo: Foldable phones are designed to offer a larger screen without the bulk of carrying a tablet. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s iPhone Duo both feature a 7.6-inch inner display, but differ in weight, camera specifications, battery estimates and multitasking features.

How the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo Compare in Size

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 has 7.6 inch main display and a 5.5 inch cover screen. The phone weighs 201 grams and measures 4.5mm thick when unfolded and 9.7mm when folded. Samsung has used a 4:3 aspect ratio for its main display.


Apple’s iPhone Duo also has a 7.6 inch inner display, alongside a 5.4 inch outer screen. Apple says both displays share the same aspect ratio. The phone weighs 254 grams and measures 5.2mm when open and 11.3mm when folded.

Samsung and Apple Take Different Approaches to Foldable Cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 50 megapixel wide camera and a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera on rear.

The Apple’s iPhone Duo has 48 megapixel Fusion Main camera and a 48 megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera. According to Apple, the main camera supports video recording at up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second.

PC MAG's Eric Zeman said, "We found the Z Fold 8's cameras decent for everyday shots, but not ideal for people serious about framing a photo," adding, "Apple's cameras don't immediately outshine Samsung's; the Duo lacks a telephoto camera like the Z Fold 8 and instead relies on software magic to compensate for the lack of optical zoom."

Which Foldable Offers Longer Battery Life and Better Multitasking

As per Samsung's estimates up to 26 hours of video playback for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. While Apple lists up to 31 hours of video playback on the iPhone Duo’s inner display and up to 44 hours on its outer display. Apple also estimates up to 24 hours of usage per charge when both displays are used equally.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s large inner display is designed to support productivity. Apple’s iPhone Duo offers Split View, which allows two apps to appear side by side. Users can also open two windows of the same app and save app pairs for later use.

According to Tom’s Guide's John Velasco, "One of the biggest frustrations with the Z Fold 8—shared with other Android foldables—is that many apps still aren't well optimized for larger, tablet-sized screens. Apple again leaves a strong impression, as many of the apps I use make great use of the expanded canvas."

Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs iPhone Duo: How Much Do They Cost

Samsung’s US store has listed prices of $1,899.99 for the 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8, $2,099.99 for the 512GB model and $2,499.99 for 1TB version. However promotional offers may reduce the price.

Apple’s iPhone Duo price starts at $1,999 for 256GB, 512GB model costs $2,199, while the 1TB version costs $2,599. While Apple also offers a 2TB model for $3,199.

At the listed US prices, the iPhone Duo would cost about $100 more than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at the entry level. While both phones have similar inner screen sizes, the differences in weight, display design, cameras and multitasking features are worth considering.
