Nine months after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson home, investigators are still searching for answers. A recent trip by detectives to a Florida laboratory has now drawn attention to a possible new development in the case. Retired FBI agent Steve Moore believes the visit could indicate that investigators have unidentified or partial DNA evidence they are trying to examine., as per a report by TV Insider. His comments came as Savannah Guthrie made another emotional appeal for her mother's return.

Why did investigators travel to a Florida lab?

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed the trip in an October 30 statement shared on X. "Earlier this month, investigators traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to advance the case. A number of ideas were discussed, and we continue to work with all of our partners to solve this case."

Speaking to NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin on the November 2 episode of Brian Entin Investigates, Moore discussed what the visit might mean.

Entin asked, "Why would you fly all the way to Florida unless there was something that you could maybe work out eventually?" Moore suggested the investigators could be examining DNA that has not yet been identified.

"That to me indicates that they have viable DNA," he said. "Doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be probative — that it's going to make the case. But it means that they have probably some unidentified DNA or partial DNA, and they're trying to determine the best way to leverage it to see if it's viable or not, if it's good evidence or not."

He added that the visit could point to potentially useful information. However, he did not confirm that investigators had obtained DNA capable of identifying a suspect.'

What did the retired FBI agent say about Savannah Guthrie's plea?

Moore also discussed Savannah's renewed appeal to the people responsible for her mother's disappearance. "This isn't going to hurt," he said, suggesting the message could reach someone involved in the case who might have some compassion. He also expressed sympathy for Savannah, describing the emotional strain of waiting without knowing what happened to a missing family member. Despite those developments, authorities have not named a suspect. Nancy's whereabouts remain unknown, and the investigation continues.
