Millie Bobby Brown could have bought a Hollywood mansion. Instead, she made an unusual property choice; at 18 she chose to live next door to her parents

Millie Bobby Brown could have chosen a glamorous Hollywood mansion after becoming one of Netflix’s biggest stars. Instead, when she bought her first home at 18, she made a rather different decision: she picked a house right next to her parents. The Stranger Things actor has made Georgia her home for years, and she has no plans to leave. These days, she shares a farm there with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, their adopted baby daughter and a large collection of animals and rescue dogs.

Her home life is a long way from the Hollywood lifestyle many might expect. Brown has built a world around family, animals and the quieter routine she has come to know.

Why did Millie Bobby Brown choose to live next door to her parents

Brown's connection to Georgia began when Stranger Things started filming there in 2015. Her parents wanted to keep her away from the pressures of Los Angeles while she was still a young actor. Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast in March 2025, she explained: “My parents didn’t want me to stay or live in LA. They really wanted to kind of shelter me from the society out here, just ‘cause it can be overwhelming for child actors. So they kept me in Georgia, and then I lived with them up until I was 18.”

When she turned 18 in 2022, Brown finally bought her own house. But rather than moving far away, she chose a property beside her parents.

At the time, she already had several pets and wanted room for more. She recalled that her parents had begun setting limits on the number of animals she could keep.

“At that point, I had like two dogs in my room and a rabbit, and [my parents] were like, ‘no more animals,’” she told podcast host Alex Cooper. “And I was like, ‘That’s gonna be a problem.’ So I ended up moving. I bought a house right next to them.”

A Georgia farm filled with animals

Brown's home has gradually turned into a lively farm rather than a typical celebrity residence. During her Call Her Daddy interview, she described owning sheep, goats, cows, horses and chickens, along with several household pets. She also has a strong connection to animal rescue through her company, Joey's Friends. At the time of the podcast recording, she had 10 dogs of her own, four cats and another 23 dogs living at the property as part of the sanctuary.

Her husband, Jake Bongiovi, shares the farm life with her. The couple also recently adopted a baby daughter, and Brown spoke about becoming a mother in an interview with British Vogue in November.

“It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey – she’s taught us so much already,” she said. “Perspective is a huge thing. The smaller things in life are so much more precious. Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.”

Brown has also made it clear that looking after so many animals is not always peaceful. Speaking to Vanity Fair in February 2025, she described the farm as noisy, messy and full of activity.

“You think animals are peaceful, but there’s so much chaos. My animals are loud, and it’s messy, and my dogs are crazy. And there is, you know, laughter and a lot of passion and excitement, and it is a very vibrant place. There is so much chaos, and that is where I thrive,” she said.

She has also pushed back against people describing her as a “trad wife.” As she explained to Vanity Fair: “I’m not doing it for the aesthetic. I’m doing it because I love it.”

Georgia remains home after Stranger Things

Even after filming Stranger Things wrapped, Brown decided to stay in Georgia. Speaking to British Vogue, she explained why the place had become so important to her.

“I grew up here, you know? This is the longest place I’ve been consecutively in my life because of Stranger Things. For me, this is my home.”

Her farm life also has a lot of time spent in the kitchen. Brown told Alex Cooper that she cooks every night and loves making dishes such as steak frites, paella and a classic English roast dinner. She even had a sheep, inside her house. Speaking to British Vogue Brown recalled that the sheep once tried to pull down her curtains.

Does Millie Bobby Brown own a home in London

Georgia is not the only place where Brown has a home. Around the time she purchased her first property there, she also bought a house in London, again choosing to live next to her parents. She said in 2022 that she divided her time between London and Atlanta. However, she told The Standard in 2024 that she often stayed in different hotels while visiting London. Her comments on Call Her Daddy in March 2025 suggested that she still had the London property at that time. The information is taken from Architectural Digest.

There have also been reports that Brown and Bongiovi purchased a holiday home in Salcombe, on England's Devon coast, in 2024 for around $5.24 million. Tabloid reports described it as a five-bedroom property with several balconies overlooking the coast, but the purchase has not been confirmed. For now, Brown's main home remains her Georgia farm. Rather than choosing a traditional Hollywood lifestyle, she has built a home around the people and animals closest to her.
