This is why an EPF member needs to have their KYC details updated along with any other important and required details. To make it easier for members to do so, the retirement body has made the process online, allowing members to correct any information online through the UAN Member Portal.
Members no longer need to fill any lengthy physical forms, or pay an office visit anymore. All they need to update EPF KYC online is their Aadhaar details and internet. Here’s a look at a simple step-by-step guide for updating EPF KYC online and avoiding claim rejection.
Update EPF KYC online: 5-step process
EPFO’s idea behind nudging members to update their EPF KYC is simple: reduce claim rejections and avoid any complications in the process. Your data needs to be accurate and as per your Aadhaar because even minor errors in details could result in automatic rejection during withdrawal verification.
Here’s how you can update EPF KYC details online:
Step 1 - Log in at the Unified Member Portal using your UAN and password.
Step 2 - Go to Manage and then select ‘Modify Basic Details’.
Step 3 - Enter your correct Name, DOB, or Gender exactly as mentioned on your Aadhaar. The system auto-verifies with UIDAI.
Step 4 – Now click on ‘Update Details’ after which the status will change to "Pending for Employer Approval".
While most KYC changes would require the employer’s approval, your bank account is an exception. You can update your bank-related details directly on the EPFO Member Portal under Manage KYC, if your UAN is active and Aadhaar is linked.
Documents needed to update EPF KYC online
Keep documents like your Aadhaar Card, PAN, and bank passbook ready for uploading. Also, members must know that their Aadhaar needs to be linked to their UAN before any correction can proceed.
Meanwhile, you can check the progress under the Manage tab. Click on KYC → Digitally Approved KYC.
