NEW DELHI: Waiting to exchange old or draw new notes from your local bank? Be aware that banks are scheduled to be closed on the coming Monday, November 14, 2016 on account of Gurupurab, according to the RBI website. This is a bank holiday scheduled as per the RBI's annual calendar and no new notification asking banks to remain open on November 14 has been issued so far. Unless the RBI issues instructions, banks are scheduled to be shut.

Post demonetisation of Rs 500, Rs 1,000 currency notes, there's been a lot of inconvenience to the cash strapped common man. Despite ATMs working November 11 onward the pain for public is likely to continue for another few days.

However, fearing a jump in footfalls to deposit or withdraw cash following the demonetisation of Rs 500 and 1,000 banknotes, banks will remain open this Saturday and Sunday and its staff will do overtime till 2100 hrs for the next three days to clear the rush.
