LIC employees stages demonstrations against FDI

MADURAI: Hundreds of LIC employees of various branches in Madurai, Virudhunagar and Sivaganga districts today staged demonstrations as part of a nationwide protest against increasing Foreign Direct Investment from 26 per cent to 49 per cent in the insurance sector.

Officials said employees from various trade unions boycotted work in 26 branches in the districts.

Insurance Agents also joined the demonstration in protest against the Insurance amendment bill, they said.
