According to a recent Indeed India Report, 4 out of 5 respondents would consider changing jobs to secure a pay rise.

64% Respondents think Indian salaries are lower than global average.

Rs 6.41 lakh : Highest average wage was in North India.


Rs 6.03 lakh : Average annual wage.

Rs 5.57 lakh : Lowest average wage was in Northeast India.

II. When was the last pay rise?

2 years : The average period since respondents last had a pay change.

87% Respondents haven’t had a pay change in the last year.

III. How many have been refused hike?

62% Respondents who have asked for a pay rise in the past 12 months and been refused.

IV. Who will ask for a hike?

67% : Women are definitely going to ask for a pay rise in 2018, compared with 64% men.

4 out of 5 : Respondents would consider changing job in order to secure a pay rise.

VI. Who’s paid more?

20% : Women respondents think their peers of the opposite gender are being paid more than them.

1 in 7: Men think their peers of opposite gender are being paid more than them.

VII. Is pay rise important?

2 out of 3: Respondents, or 64%, would be willing to have flexible hours at work instead of pay rise, while 63% would swap pay rise for health care benefits

The ‘Indeed India Report’ survey was conducted by Censuswide, a UK-based survey consultancy, among 2,005 Indian employees from companies across sectors.
