SNAP PAYMENTS ELIGIBILITY IN FLORIDA

April 2026 marks a major shift in eligibility rules tied to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed on July 4, 2025, widely seen as one of the biggest changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in decades.

According to Futbolete, work requirements have expanded significantly: adults aged 18 to 64 without children under 14 must complete at least 20 hours of weekly work or job training to receive benefits beyond three months.

Exemptions have been removed for veterans, people experiencing homelessness, and former foster youth under 24. Additionally, beginning April 9, many non-citizens who qualified under humanitarian exemptions will lose access unless they meet the stricter new eligibility criteria.

PURCHASE RESTRICTIONS STARTS ON APRIL 20

April brings a major change in Florida with new EBT purchase restrictions. Starting April 20, 2026, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program users can no longer buy sodas, energy drinks, candy, or heavily processed desserts, reported Futbolete.
