The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 begins on Saturday following a tense and controversial build-up marked by political issues. Pakistan will open the tournament against the Netherlands in Colombo. England arrive confident after a 3–0 T20 series win in Sri Lanka. Led by Harry Brook, they are favorites to advance from Group C, which also includes West Indies, Italy, Nepal, and Scotland. England open against Nepal on Sunday. Scotland, added late to replace Bangladesh, face West Indies on opening day. Italy will make their first-ever Cricket World Cup appearance on Monday.

South Africa, runners-up in 2024, begin in Group D alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada, and the UAE. The top two teams from each group will reach the Super Eights, with four advancing to the semifinals.
