The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 commences amidst political controversy, with Bangladesh removed and Pakistan refusing to play India. Defending champions India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, are favorites, facing the USA on day one. Australia and Engla...

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India enter the competition as strong title contenders and carry the hopes of more than a billion fans. They are expected to move comfortably into the Super Eight stage from Group A, but the United States could pose a threat after stunning Pakistan in 2024.
Australia and England are also seen as serious challengers. Australia, winners in 2021, are missing key fast bowler Pat Cummins due to a back injury, while Josh Hazlewood will miss early matches. Even so, captain Mitchell Marsh is expected to guide Australia through Group B, which includes Ireland, Sri Lanka, Oman, and Zimbabwe.
England arrive confident after a 3–0 T20 series win in Sri Lanka. Led by Harry Brook, they are favorites to advance from Group C, which also includes West Indies, Italy, Nepal, and Scotland. England open against Nepal on Sunday. Scotland, added late to replace Bangladesh, face West Indies on opening day. Italy will make their first-ever Cricket World Cup appearance on Monday.
South Africa, runners-up in 2024, begin in Group D alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada, and the UAE. The top two teams from each group will reach the Super Eights, with four advancing to the semifinals.
