Chirayu Rana, the former anonymous “John Doe” behind the high-profile sexual harassment lawsuit against ex-JPMorgan Chase colleague Lorna Hajdini, had already left his new role at investment firm Bregal Sagemount weeks before the allegations became public.

The New York Post reported citing sources, that the 35-year-old Rutgers University graduate exited Bregal Sagemount on April 2, just over three weeks before he accused Hajdini, 37, of harassing, drugging, and performing sexual acts despite repeated refusals. His biography remained listed on the firm’s website as of writing.

Bregal Sagemount confirmed Rana’s departure in a statement to the outlet. “Chiraya Rana was employed by Bregal Sagemount from October 20, 2025 to April 2, 2026. He is no longer an employee,” Bregal Sagemount wrote, as quoted by the New York Post, further stating that they are unable to share more information about the circumstances of his departure. The outlet noted that his company email account still appeared to be active.

Earlier, the outlet identified “John Doe” as Chirayu Rana on Thursday, April 30, after Daily Mail first reported the sensational story on April 29 citing court documents, alleging that Hajdini kept him as a “sex slave."

According to the lawsuit filed on Monday, April 27, Hajdini repeatedly reminded him that she "owned" him and that she "controlled his promotion and bonus," which he interpreted as a threat that she would block both if he refused and even stalked his Manhattan apartment.

However, the New York Post later reported that the two worked under different managing directors at JPMorgan, meaning Hajdini had no authority over Rana’s annual compensation.

The American tabloid also reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, that Rana had another short six-month stint with Apollo Global Management in Los Angeles before joining Bregal Sagemount. According to his FINRA profile, Rana earlier joined Apollo Global Management in June 2023. Before that, he worked at Morgan Stanley as a senior associate from 2022 until June the following year.
