Global factors driving funds flows into Indian markets: Himanshu Srivastava, Morningstar

Global factors are not supporting too much FII flows into emerging markets, says Srivastava.

“The FIIs may move out of India to other comparable markets with better risk reward profile.”

“Despite FIIs moving out, the markets have been stable due to DIIs.”

“In April with a stable currency and the market going up, a lot of FIIs would have opted to book profit.”

“There was a global selloff and that triggered a huge selloff from FIIs side in India.”

“It is largely short-term money which is moving out rather than the long-term money.”

This year so far, we have seen money moving out of Indian markets whereas China allocation has been increasing.

The flows from India focussed offshore funds and ETFs both have been really strong.
