The units in SEZs need to become net foreign exchange positive in five years, that is, achieve higher exports than imports.

Government has allowed companies having operations in one special economic zone (SEZ) to expand operations into another one seamlessly.

The government is also planning to impose a minimum 5% value addition requirement on all gold exports from SEZs.
