The unit is sought to be hived-off into an independent company to avoid conflict of interest in the power transmission sector.

Government plans to invite global bids for a dozen interstate transmission projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore in the next two months.

The number of bidders has fallen to 12 from 35 a year ago and companies are making realistic bids now, industry officials said.

The company is exporting towers to 18 countries to several EPC players in markets like Australia, USA, Latin America and Canada.
