L&T on Friday announced a contract with the Korean defence firm to execute an order for 100 ‘K 9 Vajra T’ howitzers by the Army.

An Indian Army officer, who did not wish to be named, said the purchase contract for the 100 guns offered by L&T is pending final clearance.

The attendance by the Indian Army not only conveys better engagements with the US Army, but also shared interests with the US.

The company is hopeful that the government would finalise at least six orders worth Rs 40,000 crore in the current fiscal.
