Pocket FM launches AI creator studio, slashes audio series production time to a day

Audio series platform Pocket FM has launched its AI Creator Suite for Indian writers. With this tool, writers can turn their stories into fully produced audio series in a single day, a task that previously took weeks and required extensive resources and post-production work.

With the AI Creator Suite, writers can upload their text and see it converted into a polished audio show within minutes, Prateek Dixit, cofounder of Pocket Entertainment, told ET.

The technology uses trained artificial intelligence (AI) voices to read genre-specific stories, ensuring good quality output without manual narration or editing.


"This entire AI suite was launched in partnership with ElevenLabs. We have launched in the US for English stories. And then, about two to three months ago, we launched here in India. We have 30,000 AI audio series in Hindi live on the platform. We're seeing massive traction from writers on this," Dixit said.

For Hindi language authors, this is a significant tool. Pocket FM’s platform is home to thousands of Indian writers, with more than 33,000 users in India each month experimenting with audio series using AI tools.

The company has a global listener base of over 200 million, and the average user consumes upwards of two hours of episodic content daily, the company said in a statement.

Historically, the process for getting an audio story to market was long and filled with obstacles. For example, professional production required writers to find editors, voice actors, and post-production teams, all of which demanded time and investment, Dixit said. Now, with the AI Creator Suite, writers can create, publish, and monetise their work quickly.

Pocket FM is preparing to roll out the AI Creator Suite in multiple Indian languages, with plans to add 200,000 new AI audio series in the next year, the company said.
