Expect service instability in the short term due to load: OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman on ChatGPT outage
OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the usage of the company's new features from DevDay was far outpacing their expectations and services could be affected for a while.

OpenAI acknowledged the outage and said, “We’ve identified an issue resulting in high error rates across the API (application programming interface) and ChatGPT, and we are working on remediation.”
The company said the outage has also impacted its application programming interfaces or APIs.
OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the usage of the company's new features from DevDay was far outpacing their expectations.
"We were planning to go live with GPTs for all subscribers Monday but still haven’t been able to. We are hoping to soon. There will likely be service instability in the short term due to load. Sorry," he said.
The current outage comes just days after OpenAI’s first developer conference, where it announced a slew of new features and new products such as GPT-4 Turbo and Assistant APIs to build GPTs. Further, OpenAI will also launch a Store by the end of this month where creators can list their GPTs and earn as part of a revenue-sharing model.
