Flipkart appoints Walmart’s Dan Bartlett to board

Flipkart Group has announced the appointment of Dan Bartlett, executive vice president of corporate affairs at Walmart Inc, to its board of directors effective November 21, 2024.

Bartlett, who leads corporate affairs at Walmart, is a veteran in public policy, sustainability, and corporate strategy. His responsibilities at Walmart include overseeing public policy initiatives, sustainability programmes, and the development of the company’s new headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas.

“Joining Flipkart’s board is an exciting opportunity. Flipkart has made significant strides in improving accessibility and value for Indian consumers and has a chance to play an even larger role in sustainable growth and job creation. I look forward to contributing to the company’s progress,” Bartlett said.


Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart Group, said Bartlett has been closely associated with Flipkart since Walmart’s investment in 2018. “His experience in building sustainable and responsible businesses will be invaluable as Flipkart continues to grow,” he said.

Former SoftBank managing partner Lydia Jett joined the ecommerce major's board in June.

Before joining Walmart, Bartlett held senior roles at public relations firms such as Hill+Knowlton Strategies and Public Strategies, Inc. Earlier in his career, he worked in public service, including key roles in George W. Bush’s political campaigns and later as a counsellor to President Bush during his tenure at the White House.

Flipkart, earlier this year, closed a nearly $1-billion funding round with around $350 million from Google while Walmart invested $600 million in primary capital.
